Toby Kent is the Chief Resilience Officer for metropolitan Melbourne, located in the state of Victoria in Australia. Toby and the Resilient Melbourne team have been working in earnest on building resilience across Melbourne since late 2014.
Today, Toby leads the Resilient Melbourne Delivery Office, which is responsible for achieving the vision and objectives of the Resilient Melbourne strategy, in partnership across the 32 municipalities that make up metropolitan Melbourne, state government departments and agencies, as well as a great many community and academic organisations.
Toby has created and implemented resilience and sustainability strategies across a range of sectors. Since the late 1990s he has worked with governments, communities, industry sectors, and many other stakeholders on five continents.
Prior to joining the City Of Melbourne, Toby worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers internationally as well as with leading Melbourne businesses, including MMG mining corporation and ANZ bank, where he was Head of Sustainable Development. Toby has a Master’s Degree in Urbanization (Housing and Social Change) from the London School of Economics.
