Featuring internationally renowned climate and economic expert Jeremy Rifkin, Third Industrial Revolution, lays out a roadmap for how the convergence of the digital communications internet, renewable energy internet, mobility internet and internet of things might coalesce to create a world of positive impact and abundance – if we can harness the potential of these new technologies while we still have time to fight the climate crisis.

Based off social and economic theorist Jeremy Rifkin’s 2011 book of the same name, The Third Industrial Revolution, outlines the social, economic and governance challenges of the future.

Rifkin now leads the charge in this thought provoking documentary which was produced by Vice Impact, the social advocacy arm of the Vice network, focusing on challenges for young people world wide.

Rifkin and director Eddy Moretti are primarily concerned with the challenges that climate change and automation present to our environmental, economic and social spheres.

Technology has created opportunities, and has benefited many aspects of society. However, there are now urgent questions that need to be answered on a political level to ensure technology remains beneficial:  How can society prepare itself for automation? How can we better incorporate and invest in renewable energies? How can we harness the technology we have created to build a world we want to live in?
