Sugar Bag Blues – Top End Bees Trees in Trouble

The documentary highlights a significant risk to bush health – both flora and fauna – due to what Frank (a respected aboriginal leader) suspects is declining pollination of wild flora.

Water is Life
A documentary about the Aboriginal communities fighting against fracking plans in the NT.

The Last Animals is a visceral adventure story about an extraordinary group of people who go to incredible lengths to save the planet’s last animals. The documentary follows the conservationists, scientists and activists battling poachers and transnational trafficking syndicates to protect elephants and rhinos from extinction.

Director Kate Brooks, previously a war correspondent, brings a sense of immediacy and danger in her telling of the extinction of Northern White Rhinos. When The Last Animals began production there were seven Northern White Rhinos left in the world.

Now there are just three. The Last Animals chronicles the desperate fight of researchers, zoologists and activists against the illegal ivory trade and the safety of large mammals – both rhinos and elephants.

The documentary, considered a must see at Tribeca film festival, spans the globe from Seattle to Africa to South East Asia, to track how the ivory trade, consumer demand and governmental complacency has led to the current situation – near extinction of some of the world’s most iconic animals.

‘A quietly stunning call-to-arms’ – Jezebel

‘Elegiac, and hopefully galvanizing…who are we, she asks, as guardians of this planet, if we allow the slaughter of these mystical, beautiful beasts to continue.’ – Screendaily
